Awaiting Test Results after Lumpectomy/ Treatment Plan

Hi,

I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed on the 12th December and I'm due to go back to the hospital on the 17th January to get my results back.

Before my operation I was told that I'm more than likely going to be having radiotherapy followed by hormone tablets.

Has anyone been through any experiences where this has been/ mot been the case once the results came back.

I.e did the treatment change

Thanking you all in advance

  • Hi Annielouise..great to hear from you and I'm so sorry you are going thru this..it's so rubbish isn't it!! Do keep me posted on how things are going,I will keep everything crossed for you!!

I was on a high after my op, but then crashed, was so tired, emotional too..I have just had to give in to what my body needs, which is rest, sleep and time to heal..not been easy as I'm on my own with my son, who has been such a great support! Us women are always on the go, so it's hard to give in to this..

Keep strong, you'll beat this..keep in touch, big hugs xx

  • Thinking of you..here if you need to talk x

  • Thank you, I am o.k just hoping for best case scenario :)️

  • I hope so too, just remember whatever the outcome, you have always got us to turn to x

  • Hi, how did you get on with your test results?x

  • Hi,

Good to hear from you, how are you doing?

I had my test results and they got it all, which is great news.I have to have 2 weeks of radiotherapy starting 12th Feb, then they are putting me on Letrazole for 5 years..going to my first oncology appointment this week was hard going,I cried all night..just overload of info and felt there is still so much to go thru..one of those moments!! Overwhelmed, but better today thankfully!

    Take care x

  • That's good to hear.

I had my hospital appointment today with the consultant.

When they removed my lump, they found some ore cancerous cells, however this has been removed and I've got clear margins on my breast and lymph nodes.

I'm definitely having hormone tablets for 10 years and Radiotherapy. However, some patients benefit from chemotherapy and some patients don't. I'm one of those patients where they are unsure. So now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks for another appointment to see the Oncologist who will tell me what percentage the chemotherapy will be beneficial for me. They will also confirm how long I need Radiotherapy for.
If the percentage of chemotherapy being beneficial is 2% for example, I need to decide if I want it. Some patients decide they don't because it's going through all that pain for 2% whereas some patients say 2% is 2%. The test is called a pro signa test
So It's a waiting game to find out what percentage it is for me then I need to make decision. If I do end up having chemo, it be for 6 months  ‍♀️.

  • I'm pleased to hear that you have clear margins on your breast and lymph nodes now!!  It's so tough having to wait 3-4 weeks I hope it goes quickly!! Hopefully you won't need chemo, but I guess you will have to weigh it up if they do offer it to you!!

Do keep me updated,I will be keeping everything crossed for you x
