Brain Tumour scare

Hello there I’m Harry and I hope this message reaches you well in this festive season, so I’ve suffered from health anxiety for almost 5 years now and it really has taken its toll on my day to day life, as now I’m thinking and feeling that I’ve got a brain tumour as I’ve had this dull ache/headache all across my head for just over a week, I get it as soon as I wake up in the morning it’s there and it really is worrying me, I went to the doctors 2 days ago and he thinks it’s just tension headaches but I’m really not sure it is, as tension headaches shouldn’t be persistent all the time, and I’m really scared that they’re going to find a tumour in my brain to late so they can’t do anything to help me.

i just don’t know why this is happening to me, I absolutely hate health anxiety and everything involved with it as it makes my days miserable and worrying.

  • HI Harry,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and the worry that they are causing.

According to the information on the Cancer Research website about the symptoms of brain tumours; it states "Headaches are a common symptom of illness. It's unlikely that you have a brain tumour if headaches are your only symptom." This would suggest that your GP could be right. There are numerous less serious reasons for headaches. Do you take anything for the pain and does this help?

Do you know why your health anxiety started 5 years ago, and have you had any treatment for this? It might be worth asking your GP to refer you to someone about this.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Hazza,

I have every empathy but a more appropriate forum might be https://nopanic.org.uk/health-anxiety/
