Hi, and a brief intro

Hi everyone! I'm glad I came across this forum as I may need you and your advice ... I'm 56 (F) and my OH is 60 (M). I'm OK, I have to be, but he has just had a biopsy for suspect lesions in his mouth and early January we are going into the hospital for the results, which makes me worried that it's something, rather than the nothing that I want it to be. And he actually asked me to go with him, rather than go on his own as he normally does (he has haemochromatosis which has led to cirrhosis, a whole other topic). I don't know if it's mouth cancer, and I don't know what we'll do if it is. Cope, and get on with it, I guess. Thank you for reading xx

  • Hi TheCatsMeow,

A very warm welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear why you're here.

Waiting for results is always stressful, but even more so when everyone else seems to be in celebratory mood.  Rest assured that you are by no means the only people going through this at present. Most consultants like to give results in person, regardless of whether the outcome is good or bad. It is also normal to be advised to take someone with you to this appointment. If either of you have any questions, you will find it helpful to write them down, before your OH's consultation and to take the list with you. It is all too easy to forget to ask something important otherwise, especially if it does turn out to be bad news. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer, within  a year of each other and, although I was expecting bad news, I went to mush, both times.

I sincerely hope that there will be a simpler answer to these symptoms. None of us want to be told that we have cancer. However if it does turn out to be this, you will cope. Somehow or other when life throws us googlies, we seem to find the strength from somewhere to overcome them.

I am thinking of you both and sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Please keep in touch and let us know what the results are. We are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
