Tamoxifen and cervical lesion

Hi

I used this forum 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and met some lovely people. I am now post lumpectomy and on tamoxifen

I recently had a smear (8months ago) which was clear and have now been ref for suspected cervical cancer after my GP spotted a lesion on my cervix she suspects is a large ectriopan

i obv googled this and have spoke to a few friends and understand this is not serious but I am worried as the test for cervical cancer now only tests for hpv

Has anyone had a negative hpv test that’s been a positive diagnosis?

Anyone who’s been here knows how this goes and I am worried beyond belief

I would be grateful for any feed back / experiences but appreciate each case is individual

Love to all you brave people out there with or without a diagnosis' x lucy

  • Hello Lucy

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some symptoms which have led to the discovery of a cervical lesion. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

It's really reassuring to know that your most recent cervical screening result was clear. Cervical screening is a way of preventing cancer. It tests for a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). High-risk HPV can cause cervical cells to become abnormal. Virtually all cases of cervical cancer are linked to high-risk HPV. Hopefully this offers you some reassurance.

Cervical ectropion isn't linked to cervical cancer so hopefully, when you attend your appointment the team will be able to give you some reassurance and treat the issue for you quickly.

If it would help to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
