I’ve signed up to this forum in the hope talking about bone cancer & finding out more about it I can help my Dad through his terminal illness.
My Dad was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in 2021 he had a tumour attached to his ribs which amazingly the hospital said could be removed with surgery he had an 8 hour surgery to remove the tumour during which they found it had gone into his lymph nodes so he went on to have further surgery to remove those which they followed up with being successful & giving him the best news ever they had got it all & he wouldn’t have to be seen for 5 years.
Sadly months after this he started experiencing pain & swelling which he went to the doctor about they moved forward a scan he was due 6 months after his given the all clear & devastatingly the hospital told him the cancer was in his bones & that he was terminal I was heartbroken & have since gone with him for every appointment thanks to my amazing work places allowing me & wanted to spend as much time with him making memories & being there to help him through this difficult prognosis.
I honestly admire how brilliantly he’s been coping never has he complained just mentioned the frustration he feels 8 months into finding out as only when breaking his collarbone about 5 weeks ago has he started showing signs of the cancer taking his quality of life away as his daughter I just want to give him the love & best life he has left by understanding bone cancer his type is chondrosarcoma & giving him what he needs I want to take care of him as he did with me as a little girl. His current condition sees him with a lot of pain particularly in his sternum & after recent scans he now has it in his leg & his shoulder also ribs. He’s had 2 lots of radiotherapy and is taking part in a trial drug whilst further pain relief is being discussed.
Guess I’m hoping as someone going through this I can get some advice on what I can do that helps anything?
