Hello!

I’m 38 and had a positive FIT test a few weeks ago, mine was 74, like you I haven’t ever seen blood in my stools. I had stomach pain (upper GI) rather than lower GI and some discomfort in my rectum area. I also lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks but I think that was due to anxiety and stress. 

had the colonoscopy last week and it was completely clear, so not sure where the source of the blood is but my GP thinks from gastritis (stomach inflammation). 

I was terrified and honestly assumed the worst, but I read that 96% of positive FIT tests are not cancer. 

have you had Blood tests done? If you haven’t got any lower bowel symptoms it’s unlikely to be cancer at age 37.

I have had bloods done which they found I have high iron levels. They thought it was ibs to start off with but then I've lost so mich weight since May and had pain mid GI and upper GI been put on tablets to help stomach pain which has worked just mid GI still giving me some problems. I'm dreading the laxative. My appointment is next week.

Hi its good that you're getting checked ,I had a colonoscopy last year and you do hear some horror stories about the prep and I was dreading it but to be fair I found it ok ,it seems like a lot to drink but its not really I used a straw and wondered what all the fuss was about ,the Colonoscopy was absolutely fine as well ,I never felt a thing ,as far as your fit test goes 74 is not really high considering it can go into the high hundreds ,I l,ike you, had weight loss and elevated blood test ,but after the colonoscopy I was told everything looked fine ,they found I had Diverticulitis but nothing serious ,I hope it all goes smoothly for you x

Mine was only 15 but Ive seen tests in the very high hundreds be ok ,but anything over 10 will be referred for a Colonoscopy ,I know how scary it all is waiting to go for the Colonoscopy and its such a relief when its all over hopefully you won't have long to wait .
