Hi there new here.   I recently had a polyp removed from rectum which all along everyone kept saying was benign.  Unfortunately once removed and tested it was found to have cancer.   I have been for a meeting with a consultant/surgeon who has offered me the ELAPE operation, removing anus, rectum, pelvic wall muscle and coccyx.  The other option is to monitor me every three months as they can’t say if any microcells have been given off from the polyp.    I am really struggling mentally with this decision and trying to obtain as much info as possible.  I am wondering if anyone has experience of the ELAPE operation and how you got on.
