I have just joined - undergoing treatment for anal cancer

I have anal cancer and have almost completed my treatment (last day tomorrow).  I was unable to complete my chemotherapy unfortunately as I had an angina attack during both of the 5 days sessions I was receiving in hospital.

Several years ago I had a trans vaginal tape (TVT) procedure to help with bladder urgency and it has been largely successful. However I have been wondering whether the pelvic radiation will have had a detrimental effect,on it and I’m hoping somebody can help me.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat forum gwrhyd and congratulations on finishing your treatment the other day. It must have been a wonderful feeling.

Unfortunately I can't answer the question you've asked at the end of your post but our cancer nurses may be able to help, so if you'd like to get their thoughts on this, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

When you can, do make sure you discuss your concerns with your cancer team as well as they are in the best position to give you the answers you're seeking and hopefully put your mind at ease as well.

    Kind regards,
