Possible uterus cancer

I'm new here. I'm 54 and I had post menopausal light bleeding that a went to the doctor about.

It turns out my coil was out of date by over a month. As my symptoms had returned, I was told to keep the coil in and try new hrt. They sent me for a scan. The scan showed Ashermans syndrome.

I asked about cancer. No sign of it at all.

I was referred to gynecology. I started to receive emails from the GP about cancer. I questioned it as there were different leaflets.

No sign of cancer I was told by a different GP as I couldn't get an appointment with mine.

My appointment was this morning. Apparently the thickness of my uterus lining is 8mm. 4mm is normal he said.

Next thing I know I'm Having the coil removed as no point being there and a biopsy taken..

I wasn't prepared for this. I now have to wait 1-2 weeks for the results.

  • Hello Sparkle1,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat.  You did well to go to the doctor's when you spotted that post menopausal bleeding. I can imagine it must have been stressful for you to receive these emails about cancer but try not to anticipate the worst as there are so many other things that can explain this thickened uterus lining. It's good that they are being thorough though and have taken a biopsy. It is now a waiting game for you until you get your results and hopefully it won't be long now until you find out more. It's an anxious time for you for sure, one that so many members of our community will be able to relate to and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news. Try if you can to resist the temptation to look things up online as it will only show you the least likely - and most frightening - scenario and focus on the things you enjoy doing that will distract you from thinking about this. Easier said than done of course but hopefully it will help make time go a bit faster during what often feels like an endless wait for results.

We're keeping everything crossed for you that you get some clarity soon and it all ends up to be nothing concerning.

    Best wishes,
