Hello lynbakersea,
Countless members of our community have taken or are currently taking Tamoxifen and I hope they will come along shortly to share their experience with you and the side effects they may have encountered. You can find detailed information on our website on Tamoxifen including a list of common side effects associated with treatment and helpful tips to help you cope. There is also a detailed guide to Tamoxifen on the Breast Cancer Now website. Don't worry though, not everyone gets the same side effects and obviously you won't know until you start treatment whether you will get any and how much these might affect you but it's always comforting to talk to others on our forum who have taken tamoxifen before and to feel that you are not alone and there are others to talk to who have been through a similar treatment journey.
If you have any questions about Tamoxifen or if there is anything you would like to discuss, our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
I am sure there will be other ladies on the forum who will want to come and share their Tamoxifen experience with you so I will just let them come now, say hello and share their story.
Best wishes,

Tamoxifen are ok , brings us obviously in to menapause , I found I had not many side effects until after 6 months I have general aches in bones flushes uo and down mood swings but in general they are not to bad I would rather not take them but I have to for 5 years so ot sucks really xx
Thank you Lucie
Thanks Lara, always to the rescue! I've only read horror stories about tamox tbh... it really sounds like a nightmare pill xx
Honestly no where as bad as you think lovely not saying they are great but a lot better than I thought xx
Hi there,
I was really nervous about taking Tamoxifen too but I can tell you that my experience has been ok. I’ve been on it 18 months now and will switch to Letrozole in 6 months.
Early on I had quite bad joint pain, insomnia, dry skin, hair thinning and some flushing. It definitely all settled down this year. I think it’s good to accept there will be side affects but honestly it’s not too bad and it does settle down. Try different brands as some suit better than others.
Good luck.
Mary
Thanks for sharing your experience Mary, what brand are you on? i'm hoping side effects will be lesser with 5mg xx
Mary

I refuse any other brand I will only take tillomed brand xx
Hi Lara. I think I’ve had Tillomed once or twice. I take the RelonChem at the moment and it seems okay. 20mg once a day in the evening x
