Lung cancer

Hi I have been having chemo for lung cancer now waiting for scan and radiotherapy but I'm really struggling with being out of breathe,  and having no energy , even walking few feet takes it out of me , is this normal ?

  • Hello Salza65,

I am so sorry to hear you have been feeling out of breath and that you have no energy after having chemotherapy for lung cancer. I am not sure what may be causing these issues but it's definitely worth mentioning them to your consultant/ medical team - do let them know that even walking a few feet is taking it out of you and I hope that they will be able to address these issues and tell you whether this is to be expected after chemotherapy. I hope that you won't have to wait too long for your scan and radiotherapy treatment and I thought I would share with you our information on radiotherapy for lung cancer which you might find useful.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 if there is anything you would like to discuss or ask them. Their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope you feel better soon and that your energy levels improve - do talk to your doctor about how you've been feeling and I hope they will have helpful advice for you. Other members of our community who have been affected by lung cancer may have experienced similar symptoms before and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
