Feeling completely lost

8 weeks ago I found a lump in my left boob..after 14 years clear. Visit the hospital and biopsy was done. To be told its secondary and they can't find the primary.

Have been referred to hospital and have not got a clue what's going on.

I have taken sick leave due to the stress levels.

  • Hi Sam,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. This seems a long time to wait without knowing any more. Do you have any further appointments in the pipeline, or are you still waiting for one?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello thank you for the reply.  No I have no further appointments. My biopsy has been sent to a hospital to be looked at. I had breast cancer 14 years ago and feel lost this time.

The waiting is the hardest and if I ring I feel the nurses are getting fed up with me.

  • Hi Sam,

It can take some time to get a decision back from another hospital, but eight weeks seems a long time. I am not surprised that you are feeling lost, when you've been waiting so long. Have you phoned your consultant's secretary to ask when they expect your results back? This is the first thing that I would do. She should be able to chase them up if they're not back yet.

Don't be afraid to contact the nurses too - squeaky wheels get oiled. Has there been any mention of treatment for you? I have had 2 bouts of cancer within a year of one another - fortunately, both were primary cancer. I was diagnosed 14 years ago too and can just imagine the stress, if I had to wait 8 weeks after a terminal diagnosis. Have you considered talking to a counsellor. A number of cancer charities offer this service and it can help to get your emotions in check again.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
