Mammogram unclear

Hello I am aged 52 and on hrt. I have been recalled after my first NHS mammogram 3 weeks ago and the Letter said ' results unclear and further tests needed'.

I am very slim and small chest size, and I have been told I have dense breast tissue.

I had a private mammogram one and a half years ago and it was fine.

I'm sick with worry. The private mammogram seemed to take longer than the NHS one.

Would the letter state area of concern if something was found rather than unclear?

Thanks

Xx

  • Hi Katy,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

More people are recalled after their first mammogram, than after any other. This is because there are no previous mammograms to compare to. There have been tremendous strides made in treatment for breast cancer over the past few years. I myself, am 14 years down the line, after 2 bouts. Here's hoping that a clearer mammogram will show that there's nothing to worry about.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
