Light headedness and more

Hi I had a full left nephrectomy on the 15th September 2023.

I have had spells of really light headedness and trouble catching my breath, sometimes together.

Yesterday I noticed one of the keyhole dressings has a green/brown stain in the middle (only small).

I phoned 111, explained and they have just phoned me back, but didn't seem to bothered! Just telling me if I feel worse to phone back or see gp tomorrow.

My question is, is the light headedness normal after a full nephrectomy and if so what can I do to help ease it and how long does it last? Also should I be more worried about the wound?

I have no temperature and the area is only mildly sore.

Thank you

  • Hi Woolymonkey,

I would phone your specialist nurse, as she will know what is normal and what's not. They are usually very good at seeing you quickly if need be. 111 is really more for emergencies and they are not always that genned up on post-surgical complications.

I hope that your nurse can put your mind to rest.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
