Terminal liver cancer

My mum had a tumour in her eye. It’s now spread to her liver, both sides. She’s 88 years old. They told us on Monday she has between 6-12 months.Start showing signs in 4 months.
Apart from getting out of breath when walking she feels fine.
I feel Iam just waiting for the symptoms to appear. But I don’t Realy know what they will be.

  • Hello Gillys

I'm so sorry to hear about the diagnosis that your Mum was given earlier this week. It's difficult to hear this kind of news and understandable that you may have questions about what could happen over the coming weeks and months.

Has your Mum been allocated any kind of support from a palliative care team? If not then do get in touch with her GP to get this in place. They can be a great support to both your Mum and the family so do lean on them for advice if you are at all worried about your Mum.

We do have some information on our website that may answer some of your questions about the kinds of symptoms and changes that you may see in your Mum's health but I'd also encourage you to give our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any information, advice, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

In the meantime Gillys, know that we're here to listen and support you if you feel you want to talk with others who understand or simply have a safe space in which to offload your thoughts and feelings.

    Sending you my best wishes,
    Jenn
