Hello

Hi I’m Michael I’m 47 and the last few months have been very worrying. It all started after a significant change in my daily toilet routine feeing bloated in pain and runny stools. So I visited the GP who ordered lots of tests which all came back clear apart from my red blood cell count and the cancer screening that picked up blood. My fit test was 37 I know it’s not high but non the less it’s more than it should be. I had a colonoscopy last week and they took 6 biopsies and found a red inflamed area which as got me worried. I suffer with acute anxiety which is making things much worse. It’s been 7 days since the colonoscopy and I’m still feeling pain in my left side and still have all the symptoms I had before.

  • Hello Michael

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems over the past few months. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what may have caused your symptoms.

We know that for many people this period of uncertainty whilst waiting for results can be difficult and naturally some people's thoughts will turn to a worst-case scenario. Try to think positively and remember that there could be any number of reasons for the symptoms you've described.

It can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it beneficial to chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information and support that they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your results and the Consultant will be able to give you some positive news. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
