Why?

My grandaughter lost her mum on her 10th  Her birthday .She is now 22.. im May her grandad died and on the day of his funeral she told family she had progressive cancer.   Its now September and she has not yet started treatment.  She cant say where the cancer is and has now said she has 5 months to live..   i cant sleep. I cry several times a day. I dont believe her... i spoke to her dad for the first time since my daughters funeral and he said its all lies.  She has now shaved her head and uses crutches to get around.. I was meant to meet her today but im so upset i cant go as i feel too emotional..  Her mum committed suicide due to bad mental pronlems and i feel my grandaughter is starting to suffer from the same.. what can i do and how do i ask her without alienating her ..

  • Hi CeeGee,

A very warm welcome to our forum, although I am so sorry to hear of your situation. What a terrible time you've been through. My sincere sympathy on your losses. How has your granddaughter been coping with both of these? This sounds like a very delicate and heart breaking situation and I am in no way qualified enough to answer your question. Why don't you speak to one of the nurses on this site and ask for their advice?

I sincerely hope that you can find a way around this without alienating her. In the meantime, we are always here to give you what support we can.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
