Diagnosing a breast lump through an ultrasound

I had a lump in my right breast and I’m in my early 20s and I was worried sick. I wait 8 weeks for a referral. My anxiety was so bad. I was Googling and very scared. I went an ultrasound scan and they said it was a fibroadenoma (benign lump) and was only a 1cm. How do they know it is definitely it through an ultrasound.

  • Hi Lil1256,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sure the waiting for the appointment must have been difficult. It's good to hear though that they had no concerns - do try to take reassurance from this, as they will always do the necessary tests to get the information they need.

If you continue to have concerns or queries about this, you are welcome to post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum to get a reply from one of our nurses.

    All the best,
