Oestrogen+, Progesterone+ and HER2+ breast cancer

Hi, I don’t know where to start really!
October last year I found a lump and thing’s quickly progressed within the NHS system.
Since then I’ve had Chemo, a mastectomy, 15 sessions of radiotherapy and I have herceptin injections every three weeks.
I’m also taking tamoxifen for up to 10 years.
I am also in the process of arranging zoladex, this will be monthly for up to 5 years.

I’d like to know if anyone else has had similar treatment that could tell me if they suffered muscle cramps and excessive itching? And if so what did the doctors do to help?
I’m hitting a brick wall with my GP and the nurses that give me the herceptin keep telling me to see the GP.

Any experiences welcome

  • Hi Nicolepapa and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm really glad your treatment has been successful although I'm sorry to hear about the side effects you're contending with. This must be very frustrating, especially when your GP is not providing you with the help you need.

Hopefully some of our members who have found themselves in a similar predicament will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon but we also have a team of cancer nurses you can discuss this with on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

In the meantime, I hope some of these tips and advice we have on how to deal with itching will prove useful.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
