I haven't had any melanoma surgery under a general anaesthetic for many years now but I'm assuming that her job is to do the pre-op assessment (usually by phone these days). She will then be there before you go in & when you come round so that she can ensure you have all the post op care you need, answer any questions & give you any information/literature you need for your post op care.
