New to the group

Hello everyone. I’m 52 and this week a cystoscopy showed 2 growths at the junction of the bladder and the urethra - seen from the bladder side. My symptoms were what I thought was a nasty UTI whilst we were on holiday; I had a lot of pain and was passing blood and I was hospitalised on my return. Things have settled down, apart from frequent urination, but the are still traces of blood in my urine. I’m getting my head around it, but I’m really frightened. I’m now waiting for the biopsies. I had the appointment on Monday but haven’t heard anything yet. My questions are: generally how long have people waited for biopsies, and has anyone had lesions in the same area? It was quite difficult for the doctor to find them, because of the camera angle, but he was persistent and we got there. I know it’s difficult to gauge timings, but I feel like my life has just stopped still since Monday, particularly knowing that even after the biopsy I will have a four week wait for results. I’m trying to keep busy, but it’s difficult to focus. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you x

  • Hello Phoenix

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for biopsy results following your appointment earlier this week. It's often a difficult time waiting for news and I know that many of our members here will understand the anxieties that you're dealing with at the moment.

Keeping busy can certainly help whilst waiting for results. Sometimes it can help to chat things through with someone and if this is something you think may help then you're welcome to call our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can ahead of your results. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Phoenix and let us know how you're getting on.

    Best wishes,
