Skin Cancer possibility??

Hi there

My hubby had melanoma about 10years ago so is very skin conscious.

I have a red spot on tip of my nose which has been there about 2 years.  GP gave me cream a year ago which didn't work.  It scabs over then bleeds every couple months.

I've had so much going on thst I've put off hoping back, but hubby is now worried it may be basal cell carcinoma.  Does this sound like a possibility??

  • Hi Yvonne,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Most of us on this site are not medically trained, so cannot answer your question. The majority of us have cancer and know how important it is to get any changes we notice checked out as early as possible. Please contact your GP, if only to put your mind to rest.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi,

It's good that your hubby is more aware of skin cancer after suffering from melanoma himself. He could be right but only your GP can help by referring you to dermatology. It sounds like your GP treated you with a cream used for suspected BCC - this works for some patients but not everyone. They should have told you to go back if the cream didn't work as the next step would be a referral to dermatology. My dad has had 2 BCCs, one was successfully treated with the cream whilst the other had to be surgically removed. The same happened to another of my relatives. Both have now been successfully treated and had no further problems. So please go back to your GP and push for a referral. Good luck and please let us known how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
