Biopsy results

Good afternoon. I had a VAB biopsy and saw the surgeon yesterday who told me that there was no cancer or abnormal cells but I needed to have the rest of the lump removed. I have radial scar/ complex sclerosing which they will remove with a VAE but I’ve received a letter saying it’s graded b3. Which suggests there is abnormal cells. I’m very confused and don’t know who to talk too. I understand that it’s not serious and I’m already due to have yearly mammograms due to family history. I tuned 40 last month and just finding all the terminology online very complicated. So if anyone has had the same issues any advice would be great. Thank you x

  • Hi there is a section on here where you can ask the cancer nurses as well so it might be a good idea to post it in there as well ,the nurses may well get in touch when they see it ,I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer their advice if they've had the same issues .

  • Hi Cambsf,

I have had a similar experience. I had a biopsy which came back fibroadenoma with atypical cells, categorised as a B3 lesion. I had a VAE last week and will hopefully get the results next week. The waiting is really hard and I've been running through all sorts of scenarios in my head. B3 means 'uncertain malignant potential' so they likely want to remove to ensure that there is nothing else in the lump that the biopsy missed. The fact that they didn't find anything abnormal is definitely positive and I would hang onto that thought if I were you and be pleased that they are being thorough by checking the entire lump (easier said than done I know!!) Good luck and keep us updated! X

  • Thank you. Yeah I’m trying to stay on the positive side of it all. Just very confused as the b3 is not what he had mentioned. But hopefully after the VAE I will be more clear x
