Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with Barrett's Oesophagus and a hiatus hernia at the start of April this year, and biopsies were also taken because of three areas of dysplasia that were evident from the endoscopy.
I've now been waiting 21 weeks for the results (despite them being marked urgent) without any further feedback.
I've repeatedly chased both the medical secretary at the hospital, and my own GP, but both seem either unwilling to help, or unconcerned by the amount of time that I'm being asked to wait.
I'm well aware of the strain the NHS (NHS Scotland) is under at present, but I can't help but find this timescale utterly outrageous and the attitude of staff equally concerning.
In the meantime, I've felt my condition becoming worse and the medication I've been prescribed doing very little to alleviate my pain and discomfort.
Where do I go from here?
The stress, the pain, and now the concern they don't even have my results, has taken over my life.
Thanks for reading.
Daniel
