Bowens Disease

I’ve had a small red patch of skin on my shin for about 6 or 7 years. The Practice Nurse gave me Betnovate and said she didn’t think it was anything sinister. It never went away, but never grew, itched, bled or was scaly. It just stayed there.
Now in my 60’s, I have become worried and requested a dermatology referral. I was seen on Saturday under the 14 day approach. The specialist checked it, and said that potentially it could be Bowens but he wasn’t sure, however it needed removing. He then discussed how it may need a skin graft, to enable it to heal because of where it’s situated and the size of the excision. We discussed further and decided that a biopsy will be done first.
I have just had a phone call from the dept with an appointment for next week to do the biopsy. I am so anxious (out of character for me), not because of the potential diagnosis but it’s the procedures that are to be carried out. Please can someone who has had this done please share their experience, thanks
