Lymphoma worry and very distressed

Hi there

im new here and seeking some reassurance.

I have been experiencing itching all over my body for around 6 weeks now. Affecting mainly my neck, but this can travel around to my face, scalp and sometimes my arms and legs. My GP told me she thought it was prickly heat as I had not long come back from holiday. Anyway, she’s since given me two different two of anti histamines which haven’t made a difference. I’ve tried e45 itchy cream. Nothing. I have also noticed some slight swelling on the right hand side of my neck and can feel a few kidney bean type lumps on each side which do seem to move around. I have had a blood test done which has come back as “normal”. My GP has said she isn’t concerned about lymphoma and has reluctantly referred me for an ultrasound on my neck. I am besides myself with worry and my anxiety is now crippling me because of it. My every thought is the dreaded C word. I’m an emotional wreck and my GP has made me feel like I’m being dramatic. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Any reassurance would mean the world x

  • Hello Me_123,

It's reassuring that your GP doesn't seem concerned about lymphoma but hopefully the ultrasound on your neck will put your mind at rest. It's normal to be worried but try not to anticipate the worst as this will be the least likely possibility. The best thing to do is to keep well away from the temptation to look up your symptoms as this will only bring up the least likely scenario which will then exacerbate your anxiety. As you are waiting for this ultrasound, try and keep busy and focused on other things if you can - it won't be long now until you have your appointment. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have experienced something similar and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
