Hello VFH, during my chemo I ate anything I fancied ,made sure veg was well washed . I did ask it it was ok to drink alcohol ,which I was told was ok .I didn’t feel like anything alcoholic for the time I was having treatment. I drank plenty of fizzy water which I enjoyed and think that you can drink any soft drinks really .All the best x
My oncologist was quite blunt, he said to eat and drink anything I could keep down and didn’t taste revolting!
Basically reverse what you’d do on a weight loss diet (within reason). When my side effects were at their worst I survived on homemade soup, smoothies and thick shakes (full fat milk and/or cream). Peanut butter and banana powershake was a favourite. My tastebuds were temporarily damaged, white wine tasted like water, some red wines were OK but beer and whisky tasted utterly revolting! The damage slowly got better once I’d finished chemo - within six weeks my taste was back to normal.
Good luck!
Dave
Thank you. That’s good to know the taste buds come back after a few weeks.
Thank you for coming back to me.
