Family member with Terminal lung cancer

Hi I’ve joined this group on behalf of a family member who has terminal lung cancer he has had two lots of chemo and due to have his third tomorrow but today he has done nothing but sleep should he ring the doctor to inform them. He has eaten and drank plenty and also had two steroids which usually keep him alert.

  • Hi Bellaboo,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your family member. I have only just come across your post, so I am probably too late to answer your question. Chemo can leave us feeling very tired. I wouldn't worry too much, as long as he is eating and drinking. If his appointment for his third chemo session is later today, he might be as well attending. If necessary, his care team can then take bloods and assess his reaction to the chemo.

I expect that he is just feeling washed out after his chemo. I am sorry that you haven't got any replies in time to help you. What did you eventually decide to do?

This is such a difficult time for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how he gets on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you replying . Yes he was ok to go ahead with his chemo and at moment is doing well although we usually expect him to go tired again in a few days but to be fair he has not had any other side effects so if it’s just the sleeping he can cope with that. He has his scan on Monday to see what progress the chemo has done so fingers crossed it’s working . Thanks again for replying

  • Hi Bellaboo,

I am glad to hear that he was able to continue with his chemo. Did you mention the tiredness to his care team? I expect that they told you that this is pretty usual for the first few days.

I hope that his scan on Monday shows that the chemo is working.

Please let us know the outcome and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
