CA125 stable

I had a CA125 done as part of a workup for abdominal bloating. It came back as 80. A pelvic ultrasound and CT abdo/pelvis was normal. All very reassuring. I requested a follow up CA125 after 3 months which came back as 80, so no change. My GP did a A&G to the Gynae department. The message came back that a stable CA125 was very reassuring. I am post menopausal. She did not think any further scans are required but will arrange a telephone consultation at some stage.  I am still experiencing bloating. So in short, I am reassured but still have some concern.

  • Hello Elonia,

It's excellent news that your CT and pelvic ultrasound came back normal and that they think that a stable CA125 is also very reassuring. It's great that they don't think further scans are necessary and I hope that the telephone consultation will shed some light on what is causing this bloating. I can understand why you would want some answers and also some advice to help you deal with this. So even though the scans didn't flag anything abnormal and that in itself is wonderful news, it might be a good idea to get in touch with your GP to find out more about what might be causing the abdominal bloating. If it gives you reassurance, perhaps you could seek a second opinion and you can find out more about getting a second opinion on this page

I hope that you will hear from other members of our forum who have had similar issues in the past and that they will pop by to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Lucie. Your reply is much appreciated.

  • Hi Elonia,

I’m going through something very similar. I had my ca125 tested last September due to bowel issues and it came back raised at 54.

Since then I have had multiple blood tests fluctuating from 50 when mid cycle and as high as 95 when on my period. However after 9 months it has remained within this range.

over this time I too have had multiple ultrasound scans, a CT scan and a hysteroscopy. All came back normal aside from a polyp and fibroid on my most recent ultrasound.

Have you had your consultation yet? I hope you are doing ok, I know how much this blood test can play with your mind.

  • Thanks. I rang the Gynae department this morning and allegedly, I will hear within the next  2 weeks a date for my telephone review . Hope springs eternal.

  • Hi Elonia,

I hope you are doing ok. Just wondering if you have any updates on your situation, Have you managed to speak to gynae?
