Newbi and worried

Hey guys,  I'm new to this , on Friday during my shower I discovered a lump under my arm pit near my breast (where the breast joins the arm bit if that makes sense ) i went to the go straight away who felt the lump she said its around 2cm, kinda of round /oval ,it's soft ish not rock hard , it's movable too I can pinch it  between my thumb and finger, no pain no indentation of the skin no rash, I noticed prior to finding the lump my nipple was sore like as if my bra was rubbing it or I'd been bitten as I was in the garden alot that day , I have nipple piercings so I squoze the nipple and puss came out then after that it was fine ,, then I find the lump roughly 3 weeks later , im due to go to breast cancer clinic on weds next week , I've absolutely  worried sick I've read up on breast cancer etc via Google,  I know it's not advised , and I've made myself ill  with worry,  I've been tired , and have shoulder pain , convinced myself it's to do with cancer even though I moved sofas and units in my living room the night before last so probably  pulled something,  has anyone else had anything like this? Xxx

  • Hi , I found exactly the same type of thing in a similar location on Friday too , I waiting for a breast clinic appointment.

I hear only 2 in 10 get a cancer diagnosis so let's think positive xx

  • Hi clastegra,

Does your lump hurt? How do you feel in general,? My gp said she doesn't think it is cancer but she'd send me to be investigated  due to where it is, im trying to stay positive but its always on my mind,  I'm sure I keep thinking I've got every symptom after reading about them, my mind is all over the place, xxx

  • No mine doesn't hurt at all.

My GP said the same, but is sending me to be certain.

Definitely oval and 2cm and kinda mobile a bit.

    It's the waiting I'm struggling with :(

  • Hi L154j & Clastegra,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are both in this awful position of waiting for a breast clinic appointment. These usually come through within 2 weeks from the date of referral. This is always an anxious wait and our imaginations play all sorts of nasty tricks on us. You are right L134j, it is never a good idea to consult Dr Google, as the more spectacular cases are dwelt upon here. Fortunately, 80% of breast clinic attendees get the all clear. Not all breast lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be cysts, fibroadenoma or due to infection. The younger you are, the less likely you are to develop cancer, although sadly, there are no guarantees. Irrespective of the outcomes, you will feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Even if things don't turn out as you want them to, you'll get through this. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 14 years and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you both get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Yes same as mine, I know the wait terrible I keep wishing the days away to get to weds ,let's hope its nothing and we've been anxious for no reason, fingers crossed  xxxxx

  • Hey jolamine,

Thankyou! It's a lovely group I had a read last night then decided to post , it's always nice to know your not alone,

I'm 40 , so hoping it's nothing serious I have 4 children (ones a set of twins) the thought of having the C word is absolutely  destroying me, haha yes dr Google hasn't helped at all I'm certain I've given myself all the symptoms of breast cancer after reading off there ,

I'm in on weds at 2:55 so will be sure to pop back on and give my outcome , xxxxxx

  • Famous last words are “try not to worry” so my advice to you is to take a breath, evaluate the situation, arm yourself with questions for the Dr and try to busy your mind with anything but the obvious. The waiting and wondering is hard but to be fair the whole process comes in stages and waiting sadly becomes a fine art. Thinking positive is productive.

    Here for you, welcome.
