Breast pain when touched in right breast and also feel like I’m going insane

Hi everyone,

A few months ago I found some pain in my breast when I was in the shower, it was not really excruciating more tender. I also have no idea if I have a lump or not because my gp said she felt some nodules whilst doing the breast exam, but when I went for the ultrasound nothing came up. I’m also on the nexplanon implant (I’m 19) so my periods have stopped and a common symptom is breast pain. I’ve been reassured once and they put it down to normal lumpy breast overlying my rib which protrudes outwards but I’m still self diagnosing and panicking so much. I have no family history of breast cancer so I am reassured in some way. If anyone older or with more knowledge can help me pls reply.

Thank you so much xxx

  • Hi Lilynormaclaire,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am not a doctor, but this is fairly normal. Breast pain seldom accompanies cancer. Your GP has said that she detected some nodules - not lumps. With lumpy breasts, this would not be unusual. It would also be unusual for you to have cancer at your age.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. I was first diagnosed 14 years ago and then discovered another primary cancer in the same breast, the following year. On neither of these occasions did I experience any pain. I simply found 2 small lumps when I was in the shower. If you notice any changes at all, don't hesitate to seek further medical opinion.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
