The excruciating waiting game!

Hi, hope you are all keeping well.     I have a solid mass in my lower back soft tissue.     I had a biopsy sometime ago and I am awaiting the results.    The consultant has now told me they are waiting for an additional report from another hospital and the final report from America.     From noticing the lump I initially had a few tests, then I was on an operating table to get it removed and then biopsied but the surgeon stopped the surgery as felt unsure (I am greatful he had the competence to state it).   So here I am still with the painful lump and driving myself potty in wondering why on earth would results have to come from America.   If anyone has any ideas I would be gratful.. Good or bad... Just to know?

  • Hello Chanel_,

The waiting game you describe can indeed be excruciatingly long and all the more so as this additional report is coming from America and it may take a bit longer for you to get all the answers you desperately need at the moment. How stressful that you had to go on the operating table and the surgery had to be stopped and you still have the painful lump. I am not sure why the results have to come from America - perhaps you could ask your medical team to explain this to you? It's impossible to draw conclusions though at this stage - good or bad - and all you can do really is wait which is by no means easy and I hope that you have some clarity soon. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had a similar experience and that they will be along shortly to share their insights with you.
