Early stage her2 breast cancer

Hi. Ive been waiting for chemo to start since diagnosis early may. Is this normal to wait so long? Im finding it difficult coping ...feeling very low. I did have my oncology consultation yesterday and the treatment plan is more than i thought it would be. Chemo x 6, surgery, radiotherapy and a year of injections. It all feels like its hit me hard today:(

  • Hi Kier,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you have had to wait so long to start treatment. Times to treatment vary considerably throughout the country, as some areas are busier than others. I am glad to hear that you saw your Oncologist yesterday and I can understand why you feel so overwhelmed by all that lies ahead. This is only normal, but you will find that the time passes quickly once it starts. You will be relieved to hear that, although your cancer journey may be challenging, you will feel better once it all begins and you can start to fight this unwelcome visitor. Do you have a date for starting chemo now? I sincerely hope that it all goes well.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Thank you for replying. They said a nurse will ring in 2 weeks to give me chemo start date.

  • Hi Kfer,

We all have some very low moments at this stage. I am glad to hear that you have some support, as this will be a big help. You will find it helpful to be able to speak to others on this site, who have been where you are and know fist hand, just how awful it is. I have been here for 13 years and find that I always have support on good days and bad.

I would expect that you'll start chemo pretty soon after you hear from the nurse.

    Please keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you. It really is difficult dealing with this. Today I struggled but I'll probably have a good day tomorrow..definitely an intense time. hope you are well. Sorry to hear you've been going through it so long x

  • Hi Kfer
