Cin3

I had a routine smear test March 2022 which came back I had HPV and low grade Dyskaryosis.   I had to go for a coloscopy and I was told to go back a year later which I did and was sent for another coloscopy as my smear test then shows high grade dyskaryosis this time.  At the colonoscopy they decided to treat me with the leep procedure and off I went and waited for the results which came back 6 weeks later at cin 3 I now have to wait until October for a smear test to see if the leep procedure worked.

I am terrified, how has it gone from cin 1 low grade to cin 3 high grade in a year??

I have 7 children and two of the are toddlers,

  • Hello Mum_of_7,

Wow 7 children, you must be a busy mummy especially with two toddlers!

It's normal to be worried after going from Cin1 low grade to Cin3 high grade within a year but I just wanted to reassure you that whether you have low grade or high grade cell changes, these changes are not cancer and are treatable. Our website has in-depth information on treatment if you have abnormal cervical cells which I hope will reassure you. I hope that your latest treatment worked well and that you find out in October that it is now all fine. Rest assured though that you are in capable hands and I am sure it will all be sorted once and for all for you.

I am not sure myself why it went from CIN1 to CIN3 in a year - this is something you could perhaps ask your GP or you could get in touch with our nurses to discuss this on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Other members of our community will have been in a similar place before and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you and give you reassurance.

    Best wishes,
