Extreme fatigue, irregular bleeding, raised CA125……HELP!

Hi,

I apologise in advance for rambling, I am so worried and I feel like I’m getting no answers from GP/Consultants.

So I started with extreme tiredness a few years ago and when I say tired I mean literally crippling tiredness as if I’d been out drinking, hit by a bus and then forced into going to the gym for a week with no sleep!! I thought at the time that I must have a virus so I carried on with life, just having early nights as and when I could to hopefully shake it off..

However, after a month, the aches and fatigue were still not budging so I decided to get booked in at my GP. I went back and forth from the GP over a few weeks & then I started bleeding irregularly with lower back ache so they referred me for scans of pelvic area, blood tests, everything came back normal (slightly raised bilirubin and was diagnosed with Gilbert’s syndrome - they said I’ve probably had it all my life so doesn’t explain my tiredness and aches) with tests virtually all clear I was subsequently diagnosed with ME/CFS and sent on my way with a self management guide

I have tried to manage it myself but I find it really hard as everything that I do I’m very aware of how achey and tired I feel in the background and it’s resulted in health anxiety. I get a head ache for example and it’s ‘oh my god that’s why I’ve been aching for so long I have a tumour’ then I’ll get checked and be all clear, then it’ll be stomach cramps, get checked and be clear. I feel my GP brushes me off now since I’ve been to them none stop since my hunt for answers began.

I sat and looked at all my tests over the years and concluded that I was either a nutter or I’m missing something...still having back ache and irregular bleeding led me to request another ca125. It came back raised.

I was referred to gynaecological oncology for assessment - I had an internal/external scan… results…NOTHING absolutely clear as a whistle!!! Discharged and sent home. Which is of course amazing news but I’m left wondering if something has been missed (health anxiety kicking in I know but I can’t help it)

Raised ca125 can be inflammation of anywhere in the pelvis can’t it? My scan im sure was just of my ovaries so im worried its something to do with cervix. My last smear showed high risk HPV and was recalled 6 months later to being all clear and put back on 3 year recalls. Could they have missed anything at the 6 month review and it’s been festering all this time?? im due my next smear in September and they refuse to bring it forward I’m desperate for answers. It’s unusual to be excited about a smear test but mine can’t come quick enough!!

sorry for the rant & thank you for taking the time to read this far haha. Xx

  • The fact that you had all clear on the assessment is amazing! I feel like if there was issue it would show up when the assessment rest came through, I think smear tests are pretty accurate so the one you had 6 months ago was given the all clear if they did detect abnormalities then they would have further investigated it, it’s good you have one in September, I’m sure you will also get the all clear as well.

try not to worry about it too much, you’ll be good :)

  • Aww thanks so much for your reply. I’m just getting myself in a panic I think. The 6 month review will be 3 years ago in September sorry I was not very clear in my first frantic message :-D I worry about worrying sometimes ha. Xx

  • Awww don’t worry about it! No it’s fine, I didn’t read it properly enough but honestly let them know it’s been 3 years, it’s your health and for your own peace of mind you deserve to be told by professionals if things are good.

I worry about worrying too so I’m in the same boat haha x
