Mulitlocular Ovarian Cyst

I had ultra-sound scans at the end of April where a 4.5 cm multiloculated cyst was found. I had a low CA count of 13

Fast tracked  for hosptital referral, where the consultant told me it was very unlikely to be cancerous, which was very reassuring, but that I would have to have an operation as this is the only way to be 100% sure. I slept well for the first time in about 2 weeks!

Sent for a contrast  CT scan last Friday, I was told it was a necessary  percurser to surgery.

My follow up appointment, sent at the same time as my hospital appointment ,was set as the 20th of June. I have now recieved a letter bringing it forward to next week. This has increased my anxiety as the only real convincing reason i can think of to bring my apoointmmet forward is because of what the scan has showed up. Back to sleepless nights.

Any similar experiences?

  • Hello Helena59

I'm sorry to hear that you're waiting for surgery for an ovarian cyst and that following your CT scan last week your appointment has been brought forwards.

It's understandable that you're concerned about what this could mean and natural that you're feeling anxious.

There could be any number of reasons why the team has requested to see you earlier than planned. it may be that the scan you had last week didn't give them all the information they need to go ahead with the surgery and they need to do further tests before they can go ahead. It may be that the Consultant simply had a cancellation in their clinic and wanted to see you earlier rather than leave you to wait till later in the month. We are of course only guessing at the reason your appointment has been moved, so for now, try to think positively about things.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can ahead of your appointment.

Keep in touch Helena and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
