Vacation after LLETZ

Hi! I had a LLETZ on 17th of May. My partner and I have a booked vacation overseas leaving on 11th of June. The gynaecologist said no sex for 6 weeks and no baths for the first week. I did but think to ask about whether swimming (pool/ocean) before the forth week is fine and now I wonder whether we should go ahead with the vacation or not. On 14th of June will be four weeks post the procedure and I see on internet that the general advice for sex and swimming is four weeks. It will be our first vacation for this year, taking some time off somewhere warm and nice and I know it will be difficult to restrict myself from swimming or being sexually actively but I want to do the safest thing for myself. Would you be able to give me an advice?

  • Hi Yellowlight3 and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately I can't advise on this, but our very friendly and supportive cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to get their thoughts on your situation, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may also be able to get further information and advice from Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.

I hope your recovery from your LLETZ continues to go well and that you have a lovely holiday if you do decide to go away.

    Kind regards,
