Hi Lizlo, sorry to hear about all the worry you are going through. You are doing the right thing getting it checked out and the breast screening clinics are very thorough and reassuring. Thank you Case4. I know I'm being over anxious - was just a shock being told I was being referred to the cancer fast track team. I'll try to put it to the back of my mind and wait for the appointment to come through x

A very warm welcome to our forum. 

I am sorry to hear how worried you are, but this is not unusual. It is a fact that, out of every 10 people who attend the breast clinic, only 2 will get a cancer diagnosis. Not all lumps are sinister. Many turn out to be cysts or fibroadenoma. These come in all sizes, so this could still turn out to be a cyst. 

Nearly all referrals to the breast clinic are made on an urgent basis. This panics some people, but it is the normal pathway, so try not to worry.

We nerly all become very anxious while we are waiting to be seen. Our overactive imaginations don't help either.
