Whipple procedure done but wound weepy. What should I do?

Hi all, i had the whipple procedure done 12 days ago now. Since having the op, i feel absolutely exhausted from doing the slightest thing. Packing my suitcase to leave the hospital, took everything I had, yesterday. Today i took a short walk and by the time I got back i was sweating and breathless. Before I had the procedure, I was always fairly active. Just wondered what others experience was around this. Also one side of the wound is quite weepy. Be happy to hear from anyone who is further on in the recovery process. Is this to expected or should I seek medical help? Tia

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Mrleeg71 although I'm sorry to hear things have been a bit difficult since you had your operation.

Recovering from surgery can be tough and some unexpected challenges can crop up along the way, so try to listen to your body when you can and make sure you rest when you need to. Try to not over exert yourself until you've managed to build your strength back up as well.

I'm sure some of our members who have had this procedure will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you are concerned your wound may need looking at, don't hesitate to get in touch with the NHS on 111 as they'll be able to let you know if you need any medical attention.

    Kind regards,
