Hi Anne,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Can I ask when you were diagnoses with ovarian cancer? It sounds as if you have been through a lot - how are you coping?
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Jolamine
Thankyou for replying
I was diagnosed June 2022. I had a full hysterectomy, spleen removed, part of my bowel and diaphram removed. I am now on Avastin. I have good active days and days when I am really tired. I get paranoid with every twinge and if my stomach gets bigger I worry about the fluid coming back. Im trying to keep the anxiety at bay as I worry about the statistics of ovarian cancer.
Hi Anne,
Just hearing of how much surgery and treatment you've had, I'm not surprisedthat you can feel really tired. Don't try to fight the tiredness, give in to it, because if you don't you'll find yourself permanently exhausted.
Do I take it that you've already had fluid aspirated fromyour stomach. It is very hard not to worry about the fluid building up again. Sadly, no amount of worry will change anything.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer over the past 13 years. I always worried that I could develop a third bout, until this posiblity virtually ruled my life. I gradually accepted that my fear was overriding any time that I had left and I now manage to put this to the back of my mind, most of the time. This has allowed me to live a much more worthwhile life.
Statistics are just that. There are many people here who have had a stage 4 diagnosis of ovarian cancer and are still coping well. Hopefully some of them will come along to chat to you soon.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thankyou Jolamine
Yes I had fluid removed twice. Today I had a good day by pushing the anxiety away.I hope you continue to have good days too. Its so good to be able to talk to people who are going through a similar experience. It gives me hope so thankyou
HI Anne,
Many people find it reassuring to be able to talk to strangers on here, who have experienced what they are going through, instead of worrying family and friends.
My mum had secondary breast cancer, which had spread to her liver, lungs, breast and bone. She has Acites and had to have it aspirated a few times.
I am so glad to hear that you had a good day today. Overall, its a bit of a rollercoaster ride - up one minute and down the next!
We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
