In limbo with sons biopsy

Hi everyone, i posted this in ask the nurse but perhalps not the best place to ask.

I have a 7year old boy who developed a growing asymmetrical tonsil. This was removed 15th March and sent to pathology. Surgery was urgent once seen by the consultant.  Was advised that results would be 10 days. It has been 5 weeks and no results. I thought this would be a case of no news is good news. However  when my boy had a 4week post op appt with the consultant their were several people in the room including a macmillan nurse. Doctor said they expected the results but nothing received as yet. This then got me worried...why would additional ppl be there for a simple follow up. Consultant said he would follow up on results and now we're in limbo and hopefully nothing to worry about.

Hoping no news is good news??

    Hi Georgianamay,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry that you have been kept in limbo for 5 weeks whilst waiting for your son's pathology results. If you saw the consultant a week ago, he should surely have followed this up by now. As someone who has had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself, I know just how worrying this wait can be.

Some results do take further investigation, which can be very frustrating and add to the waiting time. It does seem strange to have so many people at the post-op appointment, when there are no results back. It might be a good idea to phone the consultant's secreatary to see if he is any further with this yet.

I sincerely hope that you get some good news. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
