Have stopped letrazole

I completed 5 sessions of radiotherapy a month ago. Had surgery (lumpectomy last November). Was told I would have a reaction 2 weeks after the radiotherapy. No reaction. At 4 weeks suddenly my ribcage very painful. Could not lay on either side in bed and even laid on my back very uncomfortable. Decided to stop the letrazole I had been taking for 4 months. Immediately the next day symptoms lessened then within a couple of days much improved. Stomach felt very sore. Gradually over next few days went away. Now have a sore left wrist with intermittent pain. Also various spots of pain in other parts of my body. Not sure if it was a reaction to the radiotherapy or a reaction to the letrazole or both. Staying off the letrazole and will see how I go. What do others think?

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I am sorry to hear that you have had problems with taking Letrozole too. Many of us do, but it is worth talking to your breast care nurse about this, as there are alternative treatments, which might be better for you. Do you know what type, stage and grade of breast cancer you had?

    Hi Sassy,

    I am glad you found what I said to be pertinent. To take Letrozole or not to take it is a big decision that has to  be yours alone of course, once you have all the facts. 

    Sadly not all doctors 'get it' that a cancer diagnosis is devastating enough without them being heartless about things. 
    I do hope you recover well and get back to being your former self. Life is good x

    Hi I have been on letrazole for 28 days , just finished radiotherapy today, my fear is the letrazole and not the cancer as risk of recurrence low. But the risks of the letrazole are significant. I have so many of the side effects already including joint pains. To me I would rather be happy and not on the pills than unhappy and in pain . I will discuss with my oncologist in 2 weeks time. Using the predict tool there was only about 4 % difference in the survival rate for my cancer type. But I am overweight and unfit which increases my risk of letrazole. I am in a quandray.
