Chemotherapy recommended-prostate cancer has spread to bones

My first post on here, I everyone I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2021, it had spread into my lymph nodes around my prostate so they did not remove it, I had 37 blasts of Radiotherapy in 2022, just been told it as spread in my bones, I feel ok at moment I walk 5 to 10 miles a day, go to gym. They recommended chemotherapy but I'm thinking stuff it and give life a blast, holidays and confront things when they happen... I'm open to any suggestions

  • Hello Attitude26 and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear that you have recently been told that your prostate cancer has spread to your bones. It's great that you are physically so active and that you are walking so much a day and going to the gym - exercise is really good for you.

This is a time when you have to think very carefully about your treatment options and what is being offered to you. There is in-depth information on our website on metastatic prostate cancer and in particular on chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. If your specialist has recommended chemotherapy, it is important to listen carefully to their advice and see how it might help you and what the benefits might be in their expert opinion. Don't be shy to ask them questions as it is important you have the information you need before making such an important decision.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. You can talk things through with them and ask questions you may have on your treatment options.

I hope that you will also hear from other forum members who have had a similar diagnosis and faced a similar difficult decision and that they will be along to share their story and experience with you. I have slightly edited the title of your post to make it more specific and hopefully attract relevant replies from other members of our community.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
