Bladder Cancer Problems

I had bladder cancer for about a year, lots of operations tests and BCG. Treatment that hasn't worked, They are saying that they want to remove my bladder?   Very concerned, Has anyone gone through this operation?

  • Hello Laura007

I'm sorry to hear that despite all the treatment you've been through you're now facing bladder removal. It's natural that you're feeling concerned about this surgery and how life may change afterward.

We did have one member [@Minska]‍ who had had her bladder removed because of a different cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, she hasn't been active on the forum for a little while but I do remember her sharing in posts that she had adapted to living without a bladder quite quickly. Hopefully, if we've any other members on the forum who have experience with this they will reply to share their stories with you.

In the meantime, I wanted to give you the links to Action Bladder Cancer UK and Fight Bladder Cancer. As they are more specific cancer charities, it may be that you're able to connect with others who have had this surgery through their patient support groups.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses, they will be back in the office after the Easter weekend available 9 am-5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you're able to connect with others who can share their experiences with you and wish you well for your upcoming surgery.

    Best wishes,
