scared I've got tonsil cancer

hi all , 

 

I'll give a brief description of symptoms,

 

a week a go I had a sore throat, swollen lymph node and right tonsil was swollen and white pus on it  . 

 

I've had no patches on my soft palate or cheeks or tongue . (yes I keep checking)

 

I went to the GP and was given 7 days worth of 250mg 4 times a day of penicillin currently on day 5 and see no improvement. 

 

I have no problem eating and swallowing, no temp . I'm scared as I feel this should have gone away by now 

 

pus when pushed comes off but then refills . I've swabbed for other things myself .

    Hi,

    I had Tonsil Cancer a couple of years ago, I had no symptoms what-so-ever until a cyst came up on my neck, I was told by a nurse, that hadn't actually seen it, that it would go down in a couple of weeks and to just keep an eye on it.  After a week, it had gone up not down so I went back to the Drs and requested to see someone this time.

    If you don't think that something is right, go back to your Dr, and explain your concerns.  Ask if it can be checked.  If it isn't cancer, then no harm done and if it is then it can be dealt with.

    thank you for replying , 

     

    yes I definitely will go back if the pus does not go . the penicillin is hard work on my stomach so I'll be glad to see the back of it .

     

    I do work in a hospital and did have a nurse look at it and she said it does look like tonsillitis and she had it for weeks on end ,but for my own piece of mind I'll be getting it checked .

     

    I think my health anxiety does not help me at all.

    Hi there I’m aware this was some time go can I ask what happend in the end. Like you I had pus and antibiotics cleared it up but within a week it came back this happend 4 times 5 time I was tested for strep postive and refered to ent waiting on mri scan so nervous
