Just been diagnosed with cancer of the vulva

Hi

I've been told my cancer is relatively rare. It's stage 2 and I've been told I can't have surgery. I start chemo and radiotherapy next month. I'm staying very cheerful, but inside I'm very scared. I've come to this site for support and encouragement. In my head I'm planning my funeral!!

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community greenmanK although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with vulval cancer.

No doubt you're working through a lot of thoughts and feelings right now but I'm glad you've reached out to us as so many of our members know how scary it is to receive a cancer diagnosis, so you are not alone, and I'm sure it won't be too long until you receive some support and advice.

If you'd like to find out more about your cancer, do be sure to have a look at the vulval cancer section of our website, but if you have any questions or would just like to talk things through with someone then do give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you greenmanK and wishing you all the best with your treatment next month.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi Steph

    Best wishes

  • Hi l am sorry to hear that you have this problem, the best advice is don't look at dr Google. It only has worst case of everything no one on it has a simple illness.

lts hard not to be worried as its you thats going through it all. I hope once you've started your treatments.you feel better when you have everything explained ect.

Do you have a gynaecology oncology nurse specialist that you can contact they are a wealth of information. During my recent surgery for overian cysts they were helpful.
The Macmillan centre is also available.
l wish you well do let us know how you are doing

    take care
