Worried about fibroids that have been found & other symptoms

I'm messaging to see if anyone else has had same experiences as myself.
I began to have pelvic pain almost two years ago, cramping in lower pelvis mid cycle. This coincided with v heavy periods that progressed to v long heavy periods throughout month along with discharge throughout.
Went for a gp appointment and antibiotics were given after a water sample. Pains in pelvis increased and thought my water infection had returned but all clear, Explained pain was now radiating down legs. Ultrasound booked and after being asked to return to GP he said fibroids and said he had done 'urgent' referral to gynae. When I received letter and rang I was told it could be many months to see consultant.
Fast forward, in past week, my pelvic pain is now in left thigh and around lower back. over a GP phone call he advised sciatica and prescribed gabapentin. Each day, since last Monday, my pain is worse, feeling as if my hip joints are out of place, only able to 'shuffle' when I walk.
As the doctor had signed me off for two weeks with the sciatica I had lots of time to Google! Also meant time to check my neck due to online symptoms... I have got 6 very pronounced lumps that I have felt before but now  worried due to combined symptoms.

im guessing what I'm really asking is from being diagnosed with fibroids and awaiting further investigation that something is v wroong. As an edit, I'm 50  and no previous problems with periods etc

  • Welcome to the forum N1234x although I'm sorry to hear what you've been contending with and for the worry this is causing.

Understandably, this must be rather scary but I'm glad you've joined us as many of our members have been in similar situations so you are not alone and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

In the meantime, if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you N1234x and will have our fingers crossed a gynaecology appointment comes through for you soon, and that the medication you've been prescribed helps with the pain in the meantime.

    Kind regards,
