Granulomatous mastitis

Hi

I was diagnosed with granulomatous mastitis 23rd January 2022 after 22 aspirations all the antibiotics you could think of part of my boob taken away, steriods and methotrexate none of these worked.

I was so fed up and tired of living with this that I was going to go private and have a macestomy.

After speaking to my surgeon I was able to have it done under the NHS.

To some people it may seem a little bit drastic but I was at the hospital every week nothing was working and i wanted my life back.

I'm only in second week of recovery but hoping all goes well.

    Hi Caz,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear of all that you have been through and I am glad to hear that you eventually had a mastectomy. I know that it is still early days after surgery, but I hope that you are healing well and that you are happy with your decision.

I am 13 years down the line, after 2 bouts of surgery. I initially had a lumpectomy for Colloid cancer, which is a rare form of breast cancer, that is one of the less aggressive forms. Less than six months after surgery, I discovered a lump in my other breast and a year to the anniversary of my first surgery, I found another lump in my orginal breast.  Fortunately, the second lump was non malignant on biopsy, but the other was a second cancer. I had a double mastectomy and have never regretted it.

I sincerely hope that you have no further bother now. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi.
    I hope you’re ok.

i was diagnosed with this last year. It’s a horrible condition. Mine keeps coming back & I’m so fed up of being in pain, I feel like it rules my life. Some days I’m in too much pain or just too tired to even go out.

    any help or advice appreciated.
