Waiting for MRI results

Hi all,

I found a lump on the upper right side of my back.  Initially didn't think anything of it so just carried on as normal.  Eventually I realised it was getting noticeably bigger so I went in to see my GP.

The GP referred me for an ultrasound and I attended thinking they would just tell me that it was nothing to worry about and send me packing, which was the case when I went for another suspicious lump several years ago.  However on this occasion the Sonographer said she wasn't happy due to the size of the lump and referred me for an MRI.

I had an MRI scan around 3 weeks later (1st Feb) and I was inside the machine for about 40 minutes.  They told me that I would have the results within 10 days, however I have still not had anything back.  I have contacted my GP surgery and spoke with the receptionist last Thursday who told me that the results had gone for further analysis.

I have been worries throughout, however this has made me feel even worse.  Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation or has had a lump in a similar place?

Thank you in advance and sorry for the long winded post.

kind regards,

Adz

  • Hi Adz, sorry to hear you're going through this.

One bit of advice I could offer during this time is to try your very best not to over-analyse the responses you're getting right now. I know from experience it's so easy in this situation to wonder 'he/she looked worried' or 'need more investigation thats bad'

try to take things at face value for now and wait for the facts.

    all the best

  • Hi Sean,

Thank you very much for your reply!  I appreciate your kind words

How are you doing now?  Are you fully recovered yet or still on the road?

I know I shouldn't overthink it and for the most, I am able to push it out of my thoughts, but on the odd occasion my mind goes into overdrive and I get myself into a panic.

    Take care,

    Adz
