Possible basal cell carcinoma

Hello

my name is Lisa 

I have had this lesion on my neck since before Christmas. After trying several creams; cream and antibiotics from doctors nothing is shifting it. 

saw a dermatologist who said looks like an infected cyst but could be basal carcinoma. 

im just really worried. I know they say it's not fatal, but had it nearly 2 and half months. My neck aches and it itches intermittently. 

does anybody have any experience with having this. I have appointment to see doc but not for two weeks and I'm sick with worry :(

    My dad has had 2 on his face - one was treated with cream whilst the other was surgically removed. My sister-in-law has also had one surgically removed from her back. Both of them recovered quickly and have had no further problems. 

    Has the dermatologist arranged it's removal? Try not to worry. BCCs left over time will spread on the skin and look unsightly but they are very rarely invasive and are not life threatening. The wait for your next appointment won't cause any negative effect to your health, other than anxiety. Good luck for it's quick removal and peace of mind.

    im glad both ur dad and sister-in-law are ok and to hear they have no further problems.
     

    The dermatologist advised me to book in with GP to have it removed; as I couldn't afford private treatment. Not sure if the antibiotics are to try and calm it down as it feels sore. I think if it was a cyst, at least the fucibed cream or antibiotics would have worked?

    It's very hard and know I shouldn't, but when u look on google, both cysts and skin cancer look the same! 

    I feel a bit guilty writing this as I know there are lots more people with serious conditions, I was just trying to find a little reassurance.

    Please don't feel guilty, you are quite right to ask for advice when it's causing anxiety.

    The antibiotics should help if it's an infected cyst although I once had one that, after antibiotics failed to help, had to be surgically removed. The cream doesn't always work on BCCs - they usually try it first before opting for surgery. I hope your GP arranges it's removal quickly.

    Thanks Angie. Yeah I did think that If it was cyst and it didn't go they would just remove it, but because nothing has shifted it; I'm just assuming the worse just hope it's not too bad if it is that as had it for 2 half months. 
     

    I have a date for 2 March to remove it? Fingers crossed. X
